A special lecture on the theme of "ICT and agriculture" was held at Koibuchi Gakuen College of Agriculture and Nutrition against the backdrop of the rapid development of smart agriculture.

At Koibuchi Gakuen Agricultural and Nutritional College (Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture), we held a special lecture on ICT for first and second year students in the agribusiness department (horticulture/cooperative course, livestock course, international agriculture course).

Koibuchi Gakuen Agricultural and Nutrition College welcomes not only Japanese students but also international students from all over the world, and we train practitioners (managers and engineers) and instructors, nutritionists, regional leaders, international cooperation promoters, etc. who will carry the future of agriculture. It is an international vocational school that trains students. More than a dozen international students also participated in the special lecture.

The special lectures held three times had the theme of "ICT and agriculture," starting with explanations of "problems faced by Japanese agriculture" and "ICT," and then "the necessity of smart agriculture to solve agricultural problems." ” I talked about it.

One of the features of the special lecture is group work to imagine (create) the future. Each student will think about creating goals, identifying issues in achieving goals, and how to integrate ICT to solve those issues with a future orientation. As this is a vocational school whose philosophy is to develop a broad perspective, scientific thinking, practical skills, and leadership skills, we also saw innovative ideas from a business and leadership perspective, making the lecture very rewarding for our company. .

On the final day, Mori, our representative director and president, gave a lecture, conveying the importance of agriculture and food, and explaining why our company, as an IT company, became interested in the agricultural field. He talked about examples of how ICT is being used on farms, and his desire to use ICT to support the future of agriculture.

As efforts toward the realization of "Society 5.0" are progressing in Japan, our company will continue to make effective use of such industry-academia collaboration efforts and the knowledge and experience gained at our own farms, and aim to shape the future through our core business. We aim to help agriculture.
