Introduction: Supporting “walking healthy forever”

Our company is collaborating with industry and academia with Morinomiya Medical University Inclusive Medical Science Research Institute (Professor Shintaro Kudo, hereinafter referred to as ``Morinomiya Medical University'') and Toppan Printing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ``Toppan Printing''), which is important in estimating the walking ability of elderly people. We have developed a system that uses a single small sensor to measure the power generated in the ankle joints while walking, and are working toward social implementation.

Background: Importance of locomotive syndrome prevention

In a super-aging society*¹, one of the issues many people face is the decline in mobility associated with aging (locomotive syndrome*²).
Preventing locomotive syndrome is important to brighten your life, and scientifically studying walking is one of the efforts to solve health issues common to all people.
We believe that maintaining health and mobility is an essential theme in a super-aging society that is expected to progress further in the future, and we are conducting this initiative in collaboration with industry and academia.

(*¹) A society in which the proportion of elderly people aged 65 and over exceeds 21% of the population (*²) A state in which the ability to move is lacking or declining

Content: Aiming to automatically evaluate ankle joint power and automatically guide rehabilitation training

We are building a system that automatically evaluates the force of kicking the floor while walking and the smoothness of movement using sensors attached to the calf, and automatically instructs rehabilitation training based on the results.
This initiative will participate in the co-creation challenge at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, as the system has become available for trial use.
Through events at the Bay Clinic attached to Morinomiya Medical University and ATC (commercial complex in the Osaka Nanko area), we will collect a variety of data on people who walk in a healthy manner in the local community and collect issues for operating the system. I'm planning to go.
We are also considering exhibiting at the "ATC OSAKA MIRAI EXPO Pre-Expo" scheduled to be held from April 13th (Thursday) to 16th (Sunday), 2023.
As for the roles of the three parties, Morinomiya Medical University is responsible for research and analysis of walking ability, Toppan Printing is responsible for promoting social demonstration experiments, and our company is responsible for creating applications based on the data.

Expectation: Efficiently prevent age-related decline in mobility

When the system is put into practical use, it is expected that it will be able to easily measure walking ability and automatically guide rehabilitation training, thereby preventing the decline in mobility of as many people as possible.
