Focus Systems receives the highest award, the "Corporate Grand Prize," in Shinagawa Ward's "2025 Environmental Conservation Activity Awards"!

Focus Systems Corporation(Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Mori Keiichi; hereinafter referred to as "the Company") has received the highest award, the "Corporate Grand Prize," at the "2025 Environmental Conservation Activity Awards" sponsored by Shinagawa Ward, where the Company is headquartered.

This award recognizes the uniqueness and contribution to the local community of our series of environmental conservation and environmental education initiatives, including our "Connecting with Corals for the Future! - Learning about the Future of the Earth through Corals Born in Shinagawa" initiative.

About "Connecting with Corals: Learning about the Future of the Earth through Corals Born in Shinagawa"

Our company aims to contribute to environmental conservation and the education of the next generation throughout Japan by applying IT technology and knowledge. One of our initiatives is the "Connecting with Corals for the Future!" project. We have installed a dedicated aquarium in the entrance of our head office, where we are cultivating corals over the long term in an artificial environment that utilizes ecosystem reproduction technology.

A natural environment was recreated using IoT sensors to control light intensity, water flow, water quality, and temperature, and in 2025, multiple colonies of Acropora coral (a type of coral) were successfully spawned simultaneously for the first time in a Japanese office environment (according to Innoqua Co., Ltd. research).

In the future, we aim to utilize the knowledge we have gained so far to restore the environment by eventually returning corals grown in artificial environments to the sea.

In conjunction with these coral cultivation efforts, the Shinagawa Coral Reef Lab environmental education program will be held from fiscal year 2023. In fiscal year 2025, a Special Coral Reef Lab will be held to commemorate the successful coral spawning, providing children with an opportunity to learn about the marine environment and biodiversity through lectures and hands-on learning. Participant surveys recorded an average satisfaction rating of 9.5/10, demonstrating the successful balance between preserving the natural environment and developing the next generation of leaders.

The "Environmental Conservation Activity Awards" sponsored by Shinagawa Ward is a system that recognizes companies, organizations, and individuals who are engaged in outstanding environmental conservation activities, such as activities to prevent global warming, protect the water environment, greening, and recycling. The selection committee conducts rigorous screening based on the originality, continuity, and contribution to the community of the activities.
