[Media Coverage Allowed] Announcement of "Shinagawa Coral Reef Lab - Learn about the Marine Environment Where Corals Live" - an experiential learning event with the cooperation of Shinagawa Ward, where you can touch real corals

Focus Systems Corporation(Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Mori Keiichi; hereinafter referred to as "the Company"), with the cooperation of Shinagawa Ward, will be holding an experiential learning event for elementary school students, "Shinagawa Coral Reef Lab - Learn about the marine environment where corals live," together with the Shinagawa Ward Environmental Learning and Exchange Facility "Ecol Togoshi" (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Director: Nakakura Yasuyuki) and Inoka Co., Ltd. (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Takakura Yota; hereinafter referred to as "Inoka").
Corals play a wide range of roles, including providing rich fishing grounds, protecting seawalls, and regulating CO2 concentrations in the ocean. However, it has been suggested that 70 to 90% of corals could die out in the next 20 years due to the effects of climate change and human activity.
This event was aimed at elementary school students, who will be the future leaders of Shinagawa Ward, and aimed to convey the importance of marine conservation and promote understanding of environmental issues through the experience of actually touching live coral and observing coral reefs in an aquarium that recreates a coral reef ecosystem, which was installed in our office using Inoka's environmental transfer technology*1.
(*1) Environmental transfer technology: Inoka's proprietary technology that recreates any ecosystem in an aquarium without using natural seawater, balancing a wide range of parameters such as water quality, water temperature, water flow, lighting environment, and the relationships between various organisms including microorganisms. In June 2025, Inoka and our company jointly developed an IoT aquarium management system, which successfully achieved the simultaneous spawning of multiple colonies of coral (Acropora coral) for the first time in Japan (according to Inoka).
Event Overview
The event will include the opportunity to actually touch live coral, as well as learn about the marine environment and ecosystem in which coral lives through coral quizzes and observations, and will also promote awareness and understanding of environmental issues.
