On-site testing begins to promote digital transformation in education and ensure student safety in the Philippines - Selected for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's "Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Project Subsidy" -

Focus Systems Corporation(Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Keiichi Mori, hereinafter referred to as "the Company") has been selected for the FY2023 supplementary budget "Global South Future-Oriented Co-Creation Project Subsidy*1 (Survey to Promote Overseas Infrastructure Expansion by Japanese Companies: Third Public Offering)" implemented by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry with the aim of revitalizing the markets of Global South countries and strengthening economic ties with Japan. Accordingly, with a view to expanding business in the Philippines, the Company has begun verification testing at schools in the Philippines with the aim of digitizing education sites and ensuring student safety.

In this trial, we will utilize "Cotchi App.*²," a student location management application for schools developed by our company, to check attendance in real time within the school and track where students are during extracurricular activities, thereby contributing to solving issues in the educational field in the Philippines.

The current verification will be conducted in two categories: "regular use" and "use at Science Castle*³," with a goal of 100 participations from primary, middle, and high schools in the Philippines. The structure will be flexible and easy to participate based on the needs and interests of each school, and by verifying the practicality of the system in more educational settings, a foundation will be built for future expansion.

Once the testing is complete, the company plans to fully introduce the system to participating schools and promote its spread throughout the Philippines, with plans to roll it out as a subscription-based service from April 2026 onwards.

Verification Overview

We will provide the participating schools with the "Cotchi App." free of charge and conduct a certain period of on-site testing to confirm the effectiveness of the implementation. During the testing period, we will also provide operation instructions and technical support to local teachers and staff to help ensure smooth implementation and operation. After the testing, we will collect feedback from participating schools and use it to improve our services.

*1 The purpose of this program is to partially subsidize the costs required for feasibility studies and small-scale demonstration projects for overseas expansion of infrastructure, etc., conducted by Japanese companies in order to utilize the growth potential of the market in the region by resolving the issues faced by these countries, and to revitalize domestic industries through the creation of innovation within Japan, while also strengthening economic ties with the countries of the Global South.

*2 "Cotchi App." is an overseas application that manages student attendance. In the classroom, teachers can quickly check student attendance via a web browser. Outdoors, an alert is triggered if the distance between teacher and student exceeds a certain level, preventing students from being lost or left behind.
